You can use one of mine for the lesson.
You will need to have an instrument of your own to practice on, but for those days when you don't want to leave your instrument in the car at work....or you have come straight from school I have a few high quality instruments you can use for the lesson.
I like parents to feel welcome to sit in on the lesson anytime they like.
I think it's important to understand what your child is working on, what they need to correct, and just to be supportive and enthusiastic.
DON'T LET ANY MUSIC SCHOOL TELL YOU THAT YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED TO SIT IN ON YOUR CHILDS LESSON!
WHAT HAVE THEY GOT TO HIDE?To make sure my students get the most out of their lessons I can make video & audio recordings of their lessons...as well as making play along backings on the spot.
If you are sick we can do an online lesson using ZOOM
I have a very high tech setup with a wide variety of hardware and software to help you progress.
Nothing gimmicky however, no online apps etc. just good solid backings and videos for you to play along with and develop you timing, and reading.
Need some advice on instruments or high tech equipment like Amps, Pedal boards, Modellers etc? No problem!
Plenty of room to get your instrument out, tune up, and warm up your fingers before your lesson.
Aircon in the summer, heated in the the winter.
Plenty of space for Covid prevention as well.
As you progress you can come along to one of my many playalong workshops.
There's a workshop for every level and interest.
SEE MY YOU TUBE CHANNEL FOR PREVIOUS WORKSHOPS.
Open to all instruments......
Bring your UKULELE or GUITAR friends down for a fun social playalong session...or make new playing mates.

UKULELE
Has got to be one of the best all time fun instruments. Easier to play than guitar, more portable, and comes in four different sizes for every size finger.
This method is designed for absolute beginners and will get you up to a good social playing standard very quickly.
The key to teaching and learning is to have fun. No one is motivated to take up a leisure activity that promises to be hard work, boring, and uninspiring.
I try to make it fun and enjoyable, and give you a good grounding in the basics.
I generally focus on social playing skills when people first start playing. After just a few short months you’ll be able to play along with well known pop and rock tunes; and be able to play along with other players at a similar level.
Tunes include selected songs by: Green Day, Nirvana, Guns and Roses, Kid Rock, Matchbox 20, Metallica, Pearl Jam, Smashmouth, Police, Nickleback, Santana, The Beatles, Crowded House, Oasis, The Eagles, CCR, and many more.
For social players who want to progress to band level playing it’s really a matter of continuing your tuition. All the things that you have learnt as a social player apply to playing in a band as well. The main difference is that you with need to master bar chords, more advanced strum patterns and understand the different stylistic techniques for a variety of different kinds of music.
If you’ve already mastered the basics of social playing you are now ready for the next step. More advanced skills are needed to handle the demands of band playing, particularly if you are looking to audition for bands, rather than just casually play with friends.
At this level I generally teach more advanced chords and techniques on a style by style basis; and begin working on lead guitar skills, practical theory, technique, ear training, and listening skills.
At this level I concentrate on exposing the student to the unique rhythm styles involved in a wide variety of commercial styles i.e. Blues, Funk, Soul, Hard rock/Metal, Reggae, Pop/Top 40 etc. Once a student develops an interest in a certain genre I tend to explore their interest in more depth.
I help you learn all of the scales licks and tricks that will allow you to play a wide variety of styles i.e. Blues, Classic Rock, Metal/Hard Rock, Southern Rock, Latin Rock, Jazz Fusion, and a wide variety of other styles. The emphasis for players at this level will be learning the correct techniques and skills needed to achieve virtuoso level playing; High level Theory, Pentatonic and Modal scales, and Ear training.
Some of the guitarists/styles I'm familiar with include:
SRV, JOE BONAMASSA, GARRY MORE, SANTANA, DAVID GILMORE, YNGIE MALMSTEEN, JOE SATRIANI, ROBBEN FORD, LARRY CARLTON, DUKE ROBILLIARD, AL DIMEOLA, JOHN McLAUGHLIN, FRANK GAMBALE, ALVIN LEE, ERIC CLAPTON, JOHNNY WINTER, BB KING, SCOTT HENDERSON, DICKIE BETTS, RORY GALLAGER, BUDDY GUY, DUANE ALLMAN , RITCHIE BLACKMORE, MICHAEL SCHENKER, PAUL GILBERT, ANGUS YOUNG, JIMMY PAGE, STEVE VAI, ANDY TIMMONS, ERIC JOHNSON and many more.
If you been playing for a while and you’ve taken music as an elective subject at school, I take a slightly different approach. In addition to making sure that you have good strong basic band skills, I also teach students to read music. When playing with an elective ensemble at school you generally need a wider skill set than if you were just playing socially or in an amateur band.
If you don't already play guitar and intend to take music as a year 10 elective, start private lessons in year 7 or 8. Guitar can be physically more difficult than some instruments and a year or twos' head start helps take a lot of the pressure off those important year 10 performances.
Generally people who are thinking about being involved in the music industry in a serious way have already been playing for a while.
When you come to me for this kind of advice I do a number of things for you.
I assess and critique your playing, and talk to you about what you hope to achieve; and what interests you. I also give you an idea as to what the professional industry requires, and where you stand in relation to that standard. We then work out a study plan together to help you achieve this goal.
The basic premise behind these workshops is that they should be fun, and a place to try out and perfect your skills in a friendly creative environment. The emphasis is on what you learn along the way....it's not about learning a list of songs for a public performance at the end of the course.
It's about "hanging around in your musical underwear" so to speak.....An environment where you can try an idea out....work on it...And try it again until you perfect it.
For the beginner and intermediate levels it's the opportunity to learn what the other instruments do while you are playing your part...and how they relate to what you are playing.
Bob is an excellent teacher, mentor and musician. I have played guitar for over 30 years and performed in rock bands.
I was feeling stale and uninspired and believed I had reached the peak of my ability. Bob has taught me so many new techniques and guitar patterns and lots of tricks and tips. My skills have increased dramatically. I now feel inspired, practice daily and importantly, I'm enjoying playing more than ever!
Bob has taken this 69 year old music tragic from not knowing what a note was, to actually being able to read music and actually play music in 6 months . His patience and teaching abilities are fantastic.
I was lucky enough to find Bob and have introduced two friends to him and they are extremely happy with their progress. I honestly believe I would have given up but for Bob being so patient and encouraging. Absolutely I would recommend him to anybody. (and remember it's never too late to learn).
I am 56 and have been playing guitar for 30 years with many bad habits. Bob has shown me over the last 2 years you are never too old to learn new ones.
He is very flexible with my lessons due to my shift work. He motivates me and encourages me to improve each week giving me the confidence I never had. Bob is not only a teacher but has now become a friend as his was very supportive during some difficult band issues.
I am looking forward to exciting times ahead in 2018 and Bob’s plans for the business.
Highly recommend Campbelltown Guitar Lessons

HOW DO I KNOW IF I'M GETTING GOOD GUITAR LESSONS?
FOLLOW THIS LINK TO MY FB PAGE FOR MORE INFO
I DIDN’T UNDERSTAND MUSIC AT SCHOOL…DO I HAVE TO READ MUSIC ?Not at all. And learning to play an instrument IS NOTHING LIKE THE CLASSROOM LESSONS WE ENDURED AT SCHOOL.
You can start on most instruments and learn to play socially without having to read music or learn theory. The exceptions would be Clarinet & Saxophone.
There are plenty of ways to start playing without reading music and still end up being a fine musician.
Reading music is a communication skill required by professional musicians to play at elite levels....not something a beginner needs to learn to do to be an effective player.
AM I TOO OLD ?I have adult students aged from 30-80 and they are all doing well. Check out my reviews to see what other older learners have experienced.
Most adults have the belief that if they didn't start as a child then “it's too late”
NONSENSE. But lot of adults suffer from the “I’m too old” syndrome….I’m here to tell you that adults make the great students. They’re more focused than kids, and understand that if you put in a bit of work you will be rewarded.
They do have a few slight physical problems because of years of work injuries, RSIs, and old sporting injuries.
I take it slowly, and at a pace your hand feels comfortable with.
DOES IT COST MUCH ?
A lesson costs about the same as a pack of cigarettes, less than most peoples corporate coffee bill for the week......and certainly less than a couple of cocktails after work.
Professional teachers charge a fee based on their qualifications, skill, experience....and the costs associated with having a professional place of business. They are career teachers and are in it for the long term. Most are working professional level performers as well. They are appreciative of your business and a pleased to see you and hear about your weekly musical adventures.
An amateur teaching from home will often not have a Police and Working With Children Check, Public Liability Insurance, and often doesn't have professional qualifications or experience.
I WAS ONCE IN A ROCK BAND are not qualifications to teach well unfortunately.
They often only teach for a short periods of time while they need pocket money at Uni or until they find full time work. Very often their students are left high and dry with little warning when "something better" comes along.
HOW MUCH PRACTICE SHOULD I DO ?
When you first start....15 minutes a day, 4-5 days a week is enough. Your hands need a couple of days rest when you first start.
Once you have been playing about a month you should start to practice about 30 minutes a day 5 days a week. This will give you the kind of progress that will keep you encouraged to keep learning.
HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO PLAY A SONG ?
People usually start playing easy songs by the 3rd lesson. I have heaps of MODERN hand picked tunes to give you a good time.
WHAT SHOULD I BUY TO START WITH ?
You need to give me a call about this.....I can save you a lot of money and help you get a good playable instrument to start on.
WHY CAN'T I LEARN FROM YOU TUBE VIDEOS
1) Because a you tube lesson cannot see what you are doing and correct any errors, misunderstandings or answer any questions you may have.
2) Online lessons are best suited to intermediate to advanced players.
3) While there are a few half decent self tutor methods on the web....you have to pay for them and it's been my experience that most people won't sign up for a structured course......and instead just grab free lessons from a variety of different teachers.
THIS IS A TERRIBLE WAY TO LEARN.
No structure, no ongoing progression, no feedback, no commitment.
WHAT IF I HAVE NO TALENT….WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN’T DO IT ?
Firstly we all have an inbuilt ability for music...it just takes time, patience and the right advice.
